GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Reporting to the Manager of Continuous Improvement, the Operations Trainer is responsible for the development, facilitation and tracking of training for the operations department (warehouse environment; multiple facilities, unionized hourly associates as well as Supervisors and Managers). The Operations Trainer will also be expected to develop and implement operational SOPs and training records, to ensure all employees are trained and follow company mandated programs and procedures.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Develop and implement company-wide training programs and initiatives for the operations department that conform to industry standards and best practices
• Coordinate onboarding of new employees within the operations department
• Create workshops and manage subject matter course materials
• Monitor adherence to the company training programs by all employees and subcontractors
• Identify relevant training needs, documentation, and opportunities
• Lead the development and selection of web-based training and videos.
• Point of contact for management and other employee groups on a broad range of training initiatives
• Review and evaluate work areas, equipment, processes, and work activities for improvement
• Perform training needs analysis by assessing the skill level, performance, and competence of each learner
• Track participant enrolment, progress, marks, and other information by maintaining a training completion database
• Create and/or upgrade standard operating procedures (SOPs) to achieve efficiency, quality output, and uniformity of performance, while reducing miscommunication and compliance failure
• Develop and implement technical documentations, training material and other documentation
• Create and maintain SOP training records and ensure all required documentation is complete, accessible, and accurate
• Support continuous improvement and measure ROI of processes and training programs

QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Post-secondary education in Training, Adult Education, or related field
• Minimum of 5 years of training experience (warehouse, manufacturing or industrial environment preferred)
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels
• Able to build and maintain business relationships with other departments, key business partners, and other stakeholders
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to multi locations (Mississauga & North York)
• Strong organization, time management and prioritization skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Must be a highly motivated, service and team-oriented individual with a strong attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to train, coach, evaluate, and improve others
• Able to custom-fit training materials around individual needs
